The 17th PROS Symposium and 6th PHILOS Colloquium will take place at the Minoa Palace Resort, a five-star seaside resort located in the coastal village of Platanias, approximately 12 km west of the historic center of Chania. The resort offers modern conference facilities combined with a relaxed Mediterranean setting overlooking the sea. Surrounded by landscaped gardens and just steps from the beach, Minoa Palace provides spacious meeting rooms, excellent technical infrastructure, and comfortable areas for informal discussions and networking. Its location makes it easy for participants to explore the lively seaside area of Platanias as well as the cultural and historical attractions of Chania’s old town.

Chania & Crete

Located on the north-western coast of Crete, Chania is widely considered one of the most beautiful towns in the Mediterranean. Its picturesque Venetian harbor, narrow historic streets and waterfront cafés reflect the island’s rich Venetian, Ottoman and Greek heritage. Beyond the historic center, the region offers spectacular landscapes—from the turquoise waters of Balos Lagoon and the beaches of western Crete to the dramatic mountains of the Lefka Ori (White Mountains). Crete is Greece’s largest island and the birthplace of the ancient Minoan civilization, whose legacy can still be explored in archaeological sites across the island. Visitors can also enjoy Cretan cuisine, known for its fresh ingredients, olive oil, seafood and local wines, as well as the island’s warm hospitality.

Getting There

The nearest airport is Chania International Airport (Ioannis Daskalogiannis), located approximately 30–35 minutes by car from the conference venue.

Transportation options from the airport to Minoa Palace Resort:

  • Taxi: The most convenient option. The journey typically takes about 35 minutes, depending on traffic. The fare is approximately €40–€50.

  • Private transfer: Many participants may prefer to pre-book a transfer through the hotel or local providers.

  • Car rental: Available directly at the airport. Driving to the resort is straightforward via the main coastal highway towards Platanias.

  • Public transport: Buses run from the airport to Chania Central Bus Station. From there, frequent local buses connect Chania with Platanias.

Participants staying at the conference hotel will receive additional information regarding transport options closer to the event.
